ABOUT

We focus on the achievements of women and people of color in the TV and film industries. It is our honor to bring to the public dynamic interviews and review works by directors, actors, writers, and producers who traditionally have been overshadowed and/or overlooked.

Furthermore, Medium Rare believes that the visual arts of TV and film suffer from mediocrity on occasion. As a result we act as a platform for other faces, voices, and viewpoints to be seen and heard as commentary on the state of film and TV both in content and delivery.

Meet the people behind Medium Rare

kevin robinson   Kevin Robinson is the creator and producer of Medium Rare. Obviously an avid film fan, some of his favorite directors include John Sayles, Spike Lee, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Woody Allen, and Kenji Misumi. Over the course of two decades, Kevin has worked in sound and video production along the way taking a detour to work in finance, before returning to the film and television world. He holds a degree in broadcasting from San Francisco State University. Email // This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

maaika western  Maaika Westen has always enjoyed performing, as one of her fondest childhood memories was singing alongside her classmates at her elementary school recitals. She is no stranger to television as she was a co-host for Fresh Take, a show focusing on issues facing teens in her local community. She is ecstatic to finally return to her first love, interviewing dynamic individuals and now reviewing films. She believes everyone has a story to tell and movies are a creative outlet to show the human condition. She is excited to be a part of the Medium Rare team, and to see where this journey called life will take her.  Megan D. Brown earned a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of New Orleans in 2004. She penned her first poem in eighth grade and has secretly wanted to be a writer ever since. Born and raised in New Orleans, she comes from a highly energetic, compassionate and literary family whose appreciation for the arts has helped shape her own. While she doesn’t play favorites among Medium Rare films, lately she seems to gravitate toward films by or about foreign-born women. She is delighted to be here!
